A good-bye to winter and welcoming celebration of spring, any event of epic proportions begins with an authentic Swedish Smorgasbord. And it shall include a hint of a Norse refreshment and a Danish dessert, dressing in Nordic fashion, and bringing your favorite recipes to share, and possibly publish. The day will also include a round or two of "Finn Bingo", and a presentation and/or music from the Nordic Center (TBD). April 1 will be training for the challenge, haha!

Wednesday - May 22

8:00 a.m. - Bus Departs DWC
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Tours & Lunch
6:00 p.m. - Bus Departs Ely

Put on your explorer hat and bring your binoculars! We will be visiting all sorts of critters, including bears, wolves, birds, small game, habitats of all sizes, and observation of actual live animal play and interaction. Ely is a very fine place to experience all this nature at your fingertips. Everything is handicap accessible and that's a good thing, plus there is no need to bring your own canoe or portage maps. One thing is guaranteed, we will get "hungry as a bear", and Ely has some fine places for humans to dine. Then, for dessert, we will venture on over to the "Dorothy Molter Root Beer Lady Museum" for exploration and a tasty treat. By then, it will be dusk, and time to return to Duluth while all the critters crawl into their favorite habitats for a good night's sleep.

A big welcome and appreciation for all members and guests is due, as we celebrate the near end of a busy summer and wish for a never-ending fall. We will gather at the Club for a spectacular Chef's Barbecue with all the trimmings. Then, be prepared for some song and dance as we celebrate the music of our youth, a tribute to the "Golden Oldies" with rock-n-roll aficionado, Todd Eckart, as Buddy Holly, and The Night The Music Died. Spice it up by dressing as your favorite artist of those nostalgic times. Our hips and knees will never be the same!
